College Football America releases its 2018 FCS Preseason Top 30

Defending FCS national champion North Dakota State is No. 1 in the College Football America 2018 Yearbook Preseason FCS Top 30.

The Bison defeated James Madison, 17-13, in Frisco, Texas, to win the program’s sixth national championship in the last seven years. The CFA Yearbook has selected the Bison as either its No. 1 or No. 2 preseason team every year since 2012.

James Madison, which won the national title two seasons ago, is No. 2. The Dukes are the defending Colonial Athletic Association champions.

South Dakota State and Sam Houston State are No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, in our preseason rankings. Both teams reached the national semifinals last season. South Dakota State lost to James Madison, while Sam Houston State lost to NDSU. Big South champion Kennesaw State rounds out the Top 5.

The Top 10 includes are No. 6 Jacksonville State, No. 7 Weber State, No. 8 New Hampshire, No. 9 Eastern Washington and No. 10 Samford.

Wofford leads the next group of teams in the rankings at No. 11, followed by No. 12 Elon, No. 13 Northern Iowa, No. 14 North Carolina A&T, No. 15 Nicholls State, No. 16 Austin Peay, No. 17 Central Arkansas, No. 18 Delaware, No. 19 McNeese State and No. 20 Furman.

Rounding out the Top 30 are No. 21 Illinois State, No. 22 Northern Arizona, No. 23 Sacramento State, No. 24 Montana, No. 25 Villanova, No. 26 South Dakota, No. 27 Stony Brook, No. 28 San Diego, No. 29 Youngstown State and No. 30 Richmond.

The College Football America 2018 Yearbook features more than 930 college football teams from the United States and Canada in more than 300 striking, full-color pages. That includes every team from the NCAA (FBS, FCS, Division II and Division III), NAIA, NJCAA, CCCAA and U Sports (Canada). It also includes updates on club football, one-year postgraduate prep/sports academies and Mexican college football, along with dozens of action shots and stadium photos taken by the CFA staff.
