Some sources indicate that Dana X. Bible played football in college where he graduated from Carson-Newman in 1912. While the exact dates of Bible’s time at Carson-Newman have yet to be confirmed, it doesn’t appear that the school fielded a football team between the years of 1906 and 1912 when Bible would have likely matriculated at the East Tennessee school. Of course, the school could have fielded an unofficial club team or Bible may have participated in the sport at an intramural level, but in either case, it doesn’t appear that he officially played for another coach. Following his graduation, he immediately entered the head coaching ranks at the high school level before making a quick transition to the college ranks in 1913.
